Back in November I announced that my blog has been nominated for a UK Blog award, and I am so thrilled to say that I have made it to the final round!
This was decided based on combination of voting scores along with a judging score.
My blogger judge – Kate (from Kate on Conservation) reviewed all the blogs across 3 different criteria, giving them a score, and Leopard Gecko Care was in the top 8 for the group Nature and Wildlife. My blog will be going through to the final round where Kate AND an expert judge will be reviewing the finalists’ blogs in more depth and across more criteria.
The winners will be announced on 12th April 2019, and will be live streamed the on IG TV and FB Live.
I started my blog, because I was upset to see leopard geckos mistreated, even by the most well-meaning owners, due to lack of information, or the wrong information around how to care for them.
When I started posting photos and videos of my leopard geckos on Instagram, so many owners or potential owners were direct messaging me asking for help or advice, and it was at that point I thought I should create a blog which includes everything I know on the topic.
More exposure means more happy and healthy geckos, and I am so happy and humbled to have even got this far.
I am a marketer by profession, and building and maintaining this blog has been a fantastic learning experience, as I have been able to apply principles in SEO, content writing and social media to further expand my reach and also develop my own skills.
I have more ideas for how I can expand and develop my blog and offerings to leopard gecko owners in the future, and I am so excited to see what else 2019 will bring and the platform that these awards will offer me.
On top of that, I absolutely love sharing my knowledge and experience, and this blog has allowed me to connect with so many like-minded people, who I never would have met otherwise.
Finally, a HUGE thank you to anybody who voted for me in the initial stages of this process – your support means so much!
